After weeks of secrecy, the magical mystery tour Anne had planned went as follows:
– Up to Rievaulx Abbey near Helmsley – can’t remember going here but thought I had done at some point. New visitors centre and lovely scenery. The abbey is really big and peaceful, with loads of swallows and house martins diving around.
– We then travelled to Helmsley and went to the castle. Again not been for a while so that was nice, lots of new exhibitions etc.
– The meal is to be at the Black Swan hotel – where we are also staying. Anne has booked the taster menu which is about 6 courses with wine so looking forward to that!
– Tomorrow I think the plan is to go to Duncombe Park which I’ve never been to so looking forward to that!
