The Flying Scotsman

Thomas was really pestering me to go up to York to see The Flying Scotsman before it leaves again in July. We took the car down to the Elland Road (boooo!) Park and Ride and took a bus into Leeds to start our journey. Once in Leeds, we took a train up to York which of course is just next door to the National Railway Museum – in fact it’s got its own exit out of the station around the back to the entrance – handy!! Easter Break 1

The journey starts at the old pleasure end of the bay, past the new open air theatre and along the beach, past the old cable car pylons to the station at Scalby...

Roundhay Park and Tropical World

Another trip out today to somewhere local I’d never been before! Roundhay Park is a massive park in north Leeds. As well as loads of grass, a cricket pitch, two lakes and good facilities, it also houses formal gardens and Tropical world. I think Thomas enjoyed the day but Tropical World was a little warm and he fell asleep in the sling!! Some photos below and the full set...

Cannon Hall Farm

We hopped a couple of junctions down the M1 to visit Cannon Hall Farm; a very popular destination for families. There is a working ‘open farm’, rare breeds, falconry and events such as ferret and sheep racing. There are a number of brand new sheds for rare breeds, farrowing, milking etc and they seem to be in the process of increasing the facilities with a new play area and restaurant due to the site becoming very popular!...
