Seems like we have a welcoming committee in the morning, as soon as we opened the curtains downstairs along came the two Labradors outside the door for a fuss!!

After a long drive yesterday we thought it would be good to find some local food, and have a look around the two towns/villages nearest to us. These are Stow (of Scotts of Stow fame) and Bourton-on-the-Water.

Stow is a lovely little place, very busy but with free parking which is splendid. We found a superb butchers and bakers, had a pot of tea and had a good look around the shops, including one of those great old fashioned second-hand book shops! I’m sure we will visit there a number of times this week for provisions.

After lunch, we had a walk (1 mile) into Bourton. This is known as the Venice of the Cotswolds as there are a number of bridges which cross the river running through the middle of the village. We went to the Model Railway exhibition which had three really large layouts of OO gauge. Gave me some inspiration for my train set, and then to a really quaint sewing shop where Anne did a bit of spending! Lovely chap in there though.

After an ice-cream we wandered back and had a cuppa outside with the dogs!
